Clerk

The PFBC employs a small clerical staff consisting of clerks and clerk typists. Most of the clerical personnel are located in the Harrisburg Headquarters building with the remainder located at our Pleasant Gap facility. Each fish culture station and regional law enforcement office also employs a clerical staff person.
Clerks are hired either in a seasonal or permanent capacity. Duties vary depending on the agency bureau to which one is assigned, and may include document processing, data entry, arithmetic calculations, coding, and assisting the public in completion of forms. Applicants must be able to perform routine clerical work involving the processing and filing of documents in a variety of functions.

Clerk Typist

The PFBC employs a small clerical staff consisting of clerks and clerk typists. Most of the clerical personnel are located in the Harrisburg Headquarters building with the remainder located at our Pleasant Gap facility. Each fish culture station and regional law enforcement office also employs a clerical staff person.
Clerk Typists are responsible for typing correspondence, reports and other documents. They also perform additional clerical functions such as answering the telephone for a multi-person office, filing, ordering supplies and similar duties. Applicants must be able to perform routine clerical work involving the typing and processing of documents and be able to type at a minimum speed of 40 words per minute. Word processing, legal, or medical terminology skills may be required for certain positions .

Administrative

PFBC hires administrative assistants and administrative officers at various levels. Administrative Assistants are responsible for performing a variety of administrative staff assignments, which include analyzing administrative or staff operations and procedures, developing and recommending work standards and procedures, conducting research and studies, preparing reports of findings and recommendations, and performing occasional public relations and liaison duties. Administrative Assistant candidates must have such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four year college or university or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Administrative Officers are responsible for performing a wide variety of administrative duties to assist in the management of agency programs. An employee in this class is responsible for relieving a high level professional or administrative official of a variety of administrative details. Work involves analyzing administrative operations, policies and procedures, and preparing and implementing recommendation on procedural, budget, and personnel actions. Administrative Officer candidates must have two years of experience in varied office management or staff work; and bachelor's degree or any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Fiscal

PFBC employs some Accounting Assistants and Budget Analysts. Accounting Assistants perform clerical-accounting work involving the application of bookkeeping principles and practices. An employee in this class performs standard bookkeeping duties in recording, reviewing, and processing financial records and documents. Work involves maintaining bookkeeping records including posting, and proving, classifying accounting document prior to posting or preparing prescribed financial statements and reports. Candidates must have two years of experience performing bookkeeping or clerical accounting work; or an Associate Degree in accounting or business administration including or supplemented by six credits of accounting. Accounting Assistants at PFBC are non-civil service positions. Budget Analysts perform technical work in the field of budget administration. An employee in this class is responsible for compiling and analyzing budgetary information for a single operating program or for comparable segments of different operating programs. Work involves contacts with fiscal and operating officials to obtain information or to explain well established policies, procedures, principles, and precedents. Budget Analysts are civil service covered positions.

How to Apply (Budget Analyst)
You must check the State Civil Service Commission’s (SCSC) website at www.scsc.state.pa.us to ensure the test is currently open. This information is maintained under the “General Job Opportunities” section. The listing is updated daily and lists test announcements of jobs that are open for application and deadline dates for submitting an application. Review the test announcement and ensure you meet the minimum requirements for the job. If you are not sure you meet the requirements, you should contact one of the SCSC Offices. Submit an application for each test announcement for which you are interested.
