July 31, 2007

Note: The Middletown Access Area re-opened in October 2007.
The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission announced today that the Middletown Access Area in Dauphin County is being closed to public use pending repairs to the boat launch ramp.

The existing concrete plank boat launch ramp has deteriorated and a sinkhole has formed, making launching and retrieving a vessel from a trailer difficult. The Commission intends to replace the existing ramp with a poured concrete ramp, pending the availability of funds.

The access site is located at the foot of Union Street in Middletown, where the Swatara Creek enters the Susquehanna River. Boaters and anglers looking for alternative boat launch sites in the area can visit the “County Guides” section of the PFBC’s web site at www.fishandboat.com.
