| Harrisburg, PA – Kayaks and canoes have been surging in popularity and the Commonwealth’s waters are prime destinations of choice for paddlers. Just as families are engaged in fishing, a growing number have ventured into recreational paddling but need to know best practices and current boating safety to be ready for the water. Whether you’re curious about paddling, thinking about buying a kayak, or would like a proper introduction to paddlesports, the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission (PFBC) is offering a FREE program for families with children, ages 6 and older. The program will be held on Monday evening, July 16 at Little Buffalo State Park Main Boat Launch with two sessions offered. Each session includes a brief on-land introduction to regulations, equipment, safety and paddling skills, followed by time on the water to practice skills. All canoes, kayaks, paddles, life jackets and safety equipment will be provided. Participants should wear clothes that can get wet. Pre-registration is required and will be accepted on the Commission’s website until July 11, 2012. Registration attendance numbers are limited.
