| HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Senate Game and Fisheries Committee has announced that it will hold a public hearing on May 22 to discuss the ongoing problems with the Susquehanna River and the Fish and Boat Commission’s (PFBC) request to designate the river as a high priority impaired water.
The meeting will be held from 11 a.m. to noon in Room 461 of the Capitol. Senator Richard Alloway II (R-33), chairman of the committee, will open the meeting. He will be followed by PFBC Susquehanna River Biologist Geoff Smith, who will discuss the factors affecting smallmouth bass populations in the river.
At approximately 11:30 a.m., PFBC Executive Director John Arway will address the committee. He will discuss the agency’s request to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to list the river as a high priority impaired water in DEP’s 2012 Integrated Water Quality Monitoring and Assessment Report.
The meeting will conclude with a question and answer period and remarks by members of the committee.
