Program Changes
Another truckload of family fishing funFor the 2009 season, the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission will stock approximately 3.2 million adult trout in the waters of the Commonwealth open to public angling. As implemented for the 2007 season, the average size of the trout produced for stocking will be 11 inches in length.

New Waters & Waters Restored to the Stocking Program
Bradford City Number 3 Reservoir, McKean County

Following the completion of maintenance repair work, this 20-acre lake will return to the trout-stocking program in 2009.  As with past practice, the lake will be stocked with adult trout during the preseason, spring inseason, and winter stocking periods.

Driftwood Branch Sinnemahoning Creek, Cameron County

Trout stocking will resume on 8.0 miles of stream that was closed to access in 2008 due to concerns with anglers crossing railroad lines to access the stream.  The access issue has been resolved and the stream will be stocked with brown and rainbow trout during the preseason and inseason stocking periods in 2009.

Eston Wilson Lake, Lackawanna County

Located near Scranton PA, this 8-acre lake will be added to the trout stocking program in 2009.  The addition of this lake will provide additional angling opportunities near a dense population center.  This water will receive a preseason stocking of rainbow trout.

Lyman Run Reservoir, Potter County

This 40-acre lake was removed from the stocking program during the spring of 2001 due to safety concerns that required a total draw down of the impoundment to allow for major renovations to the structure of the dam.  Following the completion of renovations to the dam, trout stocking was resumed during the late spring of 2008.  The stocking program will continue with preseason, spring inseason, fall, and winter stockings of rainbow trout scheduled for 2009.

Tohickon Creek, Bucks County

In 2009 a preseason stocking will be added to the 5.5-mile section of stream extending from the bridge on Dark Hollow Road (SR 1013) downstream to the mouth.  Formerly this section of stream had been stocked on an inseason only basis.

West Valley Creek, Chester County

A 2.8-mile section of stream extending from 0.25 miles downstream of the railroad tunnel downstream to the mouth will return to the adult trout-stocking program following a seven-year hiatus due to landowner posting.  This section will receive a preseason and an inseason stocking of brown and rainbow trout.

Removal of Waters
Lake Perez, Huntingdon County

This 72-acre impoundment has been removed from at least the spring portion of the 2009 trout-stocking program due to safety concerns that require a draw down of the impoundment to allow for maintenance repairs on the structure of the dam.

Leaser Lake, Lehigh County

This 117-acre impoundment has been removed from the 2009 trout-stocking program due to safety concerns that require a complete draw down of the impoundment to allow for maintenance repairs on the structure of the dam.

Opossum Lake, Cumberland County

This 59-acre lake has been removed from the trout-stocking program in 2009 due to safety concerns that require a complete dewatering of the lake to allow for construction to rebuild the spillway of the dam.

Swift Run, Mifflin County

A 2.2-mile section of stream extending from the headwaters downstream to the mouth has been removed from the 2009 trout-stocking program due to the presence of a Class A wild trout population.  Formerly, this water had been stocked on a preseason only basis.

Delayed-Harvest Area Removal
