Located
in Indiana County,
Hemlock Lake (formerly Straight Run Dam) is a 60-acre impoundment owned by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
and managed by the Fish and Boat Commission for public fishing and boating.
Indiana County Parks and Trails leases
the site from the Commission as a public recreation area.
FISHING
Hemlock Lake is managed as a warmwater fishery. All species of fish are managed under Commonwealth
Inland Waters regulations. The Commission stocks
the lake with saugeye fingerling.
Levittown Lake offers warmwater fishing opportunities. The Commission stocks
the lake with trout a number of times throughout the year. Access for shore fishing is good. All species
of fish are managed under Commonwealth
Inland Waters regulations.
BOATING
Boating at Hemlock Lake is limited to boats powered by electric motors and un-powered boats. Two surfaced launch
ramps are available along with associated parking facilities.
Un-powered boats may be moored at the lake in accordance with Commission
property regulations. To be used at the lake, boats must be registered or
have a valid launch permit (permits are issued by the Commission or
PA Dept. of Conservation and Natural Resources). |
