| Kaercher Creek Lake |
Located
in Berks County at the eastern edge of Hamburg, Kaercher
Creek Lake is a 31-acre impoundment owned by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and managed by the Fish and
Boat Commission for public fishing and boating. Part of the facility is
managed by Berks County Parks and Recreation. They have playground
equipment, a pavilion and restrooms.
FISHING
Fish habitat structures have been placed in the lake over
the years as part of the Commission's Cooperative Fish Habitat Improvement Program. The lake is managed as a Big
Bass Lake. Statewide
regulations for Commonwealth Inland Waters apply for all other species of fish.
Access for anglers is
excellent along the north shore of the lake with well worn angler paths, mowed grass fields, and two
fishing piers providing access to the waters edge. Shore fishing is permitted.
BOATING
Boating at Kaercher Creek Lake is limited to boats powered by electric motors and un-powered boats. The primary
type of boats used on the lake are shallow-draft, lightweight fishing boats, canoes and inflatables.
A surfaced launch ramp is available along with associated parking facilities.
Un-powered boats may be moored at the lake in accordance with Commission
property regulations. To be used at the lake, boats must be registered or
have a valid launch permit (permits are issued by the Commission or
PA Dept. of Conservation and Natural Resources). |
